Who we are

Quality made in Germany

Helmut Fischer was established in 1953 under the name “Schuhmann and Fischer Electrical Devices” 22-year old Helmut Fischer. At the time many materials were still hard to find and one simply had to improvise. Helmut Fischer understood this need and together with his mentor and physics teacher developed a device that could measure paint and chrome layers, the Permaskop. The company quickly grew in popularity, counting leading companies like Bosch and Daimler among its first customers.

Within two decades, the company expanded internationally with subsidiaries and representatives in England, Japan and the USA.

During the 1980s and 90s, Fischer experienced significant growth by expanding its product range. In 1981, the company launched its first X-ray fluorescence (XRF) instrument, in addition to a hardness tester. A pioneering approach and patented technologies allowed Helmut Fischer devices to quickly establish themselves as reliable and precise measuring instruments in various industries.

For Helmut Fischer, it was always important to build equipment that would last for decades; the same went for the company itself. As a result, we can proudly look back on 70 years of expertise in material analysis and surface testing.
